Whilst filmmaking is my first passion and my strongest area of expertise, photography goes hand-in-hand with many of the skills and disciplines of cinematography. In fact, I feel that they both inform one another.
Lighting, composition and direction are just a few skills that both photography and cinematography share. One of the crossover areas between the two that I enjoy most is timelapse – a technique whereby the camera is set to take several hundreds (and sometimes thousands!) of still images to be then later compiled into one moving image. I try to incorporate timelapse into many areas of my corporate and commercial work as I feel it adds another interesting dimension to a project.
